Distance: 10 Miles Difficulty: Moderately strenuous Total Accumulated Ascent: 2,000 ft No. of Stiles: 4 Walking Time: 6 hours Date: Sunday 5 May Start time: 10:15 a.m. Meet: in the Cats Back (Black Hill) car park. Dist/Time from Cardiff 45 ml/1hr 30 min The Cat’s Back, Hay Bluff, Offa’s Dyke walk is not so hard as it may sound but it does involve some rocky and muddy paths. However, there are also stretches of beautifully laid flagstone paths. We will warm up by going downhill through woodland to the Olchon Valley before climbing slowly to Offa’s Dyke. From there we will follow a good path to Hay Bluff and on to The Cat’s Back. Finally descending again to our cars. The walk is 10 miles long and should take about 6 hours. This is a lovely mountain walk along a broad ridge to reach Hay Bluff and then along the much narrower Cats Back (Crib y Garth. The climbing will be taken slowly. Car Sharing is recommended as the car park is small. If you want to come along please reply early so I can publish details of those willing to car share in good time.
